The commencement speech at UCF centered on the growing influence of artificial intelligence and what it could mean for the future of work, especially in creative industries. The speaker referred to AI as “the next industrial revolution,” framing it as a major shift that society is already beginning to experience.
A main message of the speech was that resisting AI is likely not the best path forward. Instead, the speaker encouraged the idea of adapting and finding ways to work alongside the technology. From this perspective, AI is not something that can simply be ignored or avoided, but something that will need to be integrated into many fields over time.
The audience reaction, however, showed that this idea is still very controversial. There was audible booing during the remarks, especially when AI was discussed in a positive or accepting way. This response reflects the concerns many students have, particularly those entering arts, media, and communication fields where creativity and originality are central.
What stood out to me most is how clearly this moment captures the current divide around AI. Some people see it as progress and opportunity, while others see it as a threat to human creativity and future jobs. Both perspectives feel understandable given how quickly the technology is developing.
Overall, the speech highlights an important and ongoing conversation about how society should respond to AI. Whether it becomes a tool that supports creativity or something that disrupts it too much will depend on how people choose to engage with it moving forward.

This is a very debated topic on one hand it is good to learn to adapt to new technologies as they can assist us and be used in new convenient ways but in the other hand my say the harm is more than good
Really interesting topic. As AI gets incorporated in more and more aspects of our lives, anxiety about the future has led to opposition against the progression of AI. At the same time, many feel powerless against the spread of AI and feel no choice but to accept it
This is a very common discussion these days. The use of AI has is not always the best of use as people use it for a replacement, but with more responsible usage and its growing future, it is being used in a lot of different fields. Therefore, using it professionally to create new innovations and rise in use within students, makes it both a good, and at time times a negative resource.
Great blog, AI is still clearly a sore spot for many graduates, and it's understandable. They've been told AI is going to take their jobs, and they have seen the effects with recent graduates struggling to find work. So it's not surprising that highlighting AI as the next industrial revolution really struck a nerve.
